The last two months have been very busy but full of love and happiness and the usual ups and downs of life. I started showing a litte more this in this last trimester, and have really been enjoying my new OB. The weekend of September 12, Hurricane Ike hit Houston, and we came through it just fine. We had a couple of leaky windows, a couple of days without power, but we were very lucky. Boo Boo spent the darkness painting with water and coloring. He was very distressed that there was no TV, but he loved the excitement and having his family around. But after the storm, any time he saw a store that was closed, there was a long discussion about why there was no power. We found gas pretty easily by going out to fill up ar 1 am, when the fuel trucks brought the gas around. I had to cancel the book club that I was hosting that night, but we rescheduled and it was a good time.
We've been to a bunch of birthday parties, and took Boo Boo to a little sibling class in which he was a huge ham and talked to the teacher about the baby in his tummy. He lifts his shirt up and talks to the baby all the time--"behave in there!"--and my little drama king even his uses his belly as excuse: "Mama, I cannot go upstairs, my belly is just too big." I guess he decided to try the same excuse that I use! We did a tour of the hospital and the rooms are kind of small, but I think I'll just be more focused on the baby.
Boo Boo was a firefighter at his fall festival last week, and he had his three year well baby check up. 36 inches tall, 27 lbs, and the doc says he will end up being about 5'8" like his dad.
Oh, and my girlfriends and I have decided to plan a trip to Paris in three years. Woo hoo!
